ABOUT THE CATALINA ISLANDS
Located in the north Pacific Ocean of Costa Rica, The Catalina Islands are a volcanic rock archipelago that offer one of the most impressive diving in the country.

They are located 7 miles offshore, where they are exposed to changing currents that fill the water with nutrients, making these rocky islands a thriving marine ecosystem.
​
​They are well known to be one of the top 3 diving destinations close to the shores of Costa Rica, offering beautiful encounters with white tip reef sharks, hawksbill and green turtles, different species of rays like eagle rays, mobula rays and the very iconic oceanic manta ray.
​
Mantas are one of the main attractions of the Catalina Islands, encounters can happen at any moment during the year, but they are common in the months December through June.
​
Another particularity of these isles is that they are visited by Humpback whales two times per year. Humpbacks come to the warm waters of Costa Rica to give birth, the whales from the northern hemisphere visit from January to April and the ones from the southern hemisphere arrive from August to November.
